ann

Daniel Herman was born in Queens, New York, in 1980. He studied literature and philosophy at Lafayette College, in Easton, PA, graduating magna cum laude in 2002. After graduation he drove out to California, planning to spend a few weeks at the San Francisco Zen Center. He ended up staying for three and a half years, training at both Tassajara Zen Mountain Center and Green Gulch Farm Zen Center. He received lay-ordination from Tenshin Reb Anderson in 2003, and was given the Dharma name "Iron Bull, Field of Freedom."

Three of his favorite things are Bob Dylan's first nine albums, mid-twentieth century American Literature and the New York Mets.

He is a formally-trained artisanal bread baker, has traveled extensively through Asia, Europe and Oceania and plays ukulele in an 80's cover band.

He is currently Assistant to the CEO at Zen Peacemakers.
