Roshi Bernie greets the Gathering

The gathering served as an introduction to the Zen Peacemaker Order - its observances, vision, mission and values. Led by Roshi Bernie Glassman and the founding teachers of the Order, including Joan Jiko Halifax, Pat Enkyo O'Hara, Eve Myonen Marko and Grover Genro Gauntt. Additional teachers included Nancy Mujo Baker, Fr. Niklaus Jinshu Brantschen, Sr. Pia Jinshu Gyger, Fr. Robert Jinsen Kennedy, Sr. Janet Jinne Richardson, Sr. Rosalie Jishin McQuade, Charles Birx, Ellen Birx, Fred Jitsudo Ancheta, Lou Mitsunen Nordstrom and Claude Anshin Thomas. The gathering included morning and evening meditations, group meetings, seminar/plenary sessions and council work. The ongoing development and formation of the Order was shared with large and small group discussions around themes of vision, tenets, observances, training, membership and social action. There was a special track for those not yet installed into the Order with an Installation Ceremony at the conclusion.
