February 17, 18 and 25, 2007 Zen Peacemakers Sangha Empowerments

During February 2007, Roshi Bernie Glassman conducted various Empowerments in the Zen Peacemakers Sangha (ZPS). To read the definitions of Empowerments in the ZPS, please link here.

On February 17, he gave Inka (Final Seal of Approval) to Anne Seisen Saunders who then became a Roshi (Zen Master) in the Zen Peacemakers Sangha. Roshi Pat Enkyo O'Hara (Co-Spiritual Director of ZPS) witnessed the ceremony.

On February 18, he gave Dharma Transmission to: Paul Genki Kahn and
Ken Tetsuji Byalin.

Genki and Ken then became Senseis (Zen Teachers) in the Zen Peacemakers Sangha. Roshi Pat Enkyo O'Hara witnessed these empowerments.

On February 25, he gave Dharma Transmission to:
Sheila Jinen Hixon,
Bob Sokan Lee,
Francisco "Paco" Genkoji Lugoviña and
Fleet Shinryu Maull.
They then became Senseis in the Zen Peacemakers Sangha. Sensei Eve Myonen Marko witnessed these empowerments.

The ZPS also introduced two new empowerments:

Circle Dharma Holders and
Social Action Dharma Holders.

On February 17, Margi Teido Gregory, Barbara Salaam Wegmüller and Roland Yakushi Wegmüller became the first Circle Dharma Holders. Margi coordinates Zen Peacemaker Circles in the United States and Barbara coordinates Zen Peacemaker Circles in Europe. Please link here to read more about Zen Peacemaker Circles.

Also on February 17, James Daikan Bastien, Francisco "Paco" Genkoji Lugoviña, Fleet Shinryu Maull, and Chris Panos became the first Social Action Dharma Holders. Please link here to read about one of our latest Social Action projects.
